How to make fried chicken momo

Fried chicken momo is a delicious and popular dish that combines the flavors of momo (a type of dumpling) and fried chicken. Below is a recipe to help you make fried chicken momo at home:

Ingredients:

For the momo filling:

- 1 lb ground chicken

- 1 small onion, finely chopped

- 2-3 garlic cloves, minced

- 1-inch piece of ginger, minced

- 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to your spice preference)

- 2 tablespoons soy sauce

- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

- 1 tablespoon sesame oil

- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

- Salt to taste

- Chopped cilantro (coriander leaves) for added flavor (optional)

For the momo wrappers:

- Store-bought dumpling wrappers (or make your own dough using flour and water)

For frying:

- Cooking oil (vegetable, canola, or sunflower oil)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the momo filling:

   - In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, chopped onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, chopped green chilies, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, ground black pepper, and salt. Mix everything well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed. You can also add chopped cilantro for an extra burst of flavor.

2. Assemble the momo:

   - Take a dumpling wrapper in your hand and place about 1 tablespoon of the chicken filling in the center. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water using your finger or a brush. This helps in sealing the momo securely.

   - Fold the wrapper in half and press the edges together, creating a half-moon shape. Then, starting from one end, pleat the edges together, sealing the momo completely. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling.

3. Fry the momo:

   - Heat oil in a deep frying pan or a pot over medium-high heat. Make sure there's enough oil to submerge the momo completely.

   - Once the oil is hot, carefully add the momo in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes per batch.

   - Remove the fried chicken momo from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

4. Serve:

   - Fried chicken momo is best enjoyed hot and crispy. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce, such as spicy tomato chutney, soy sauce, or chili garlic sauce.

Enjoy your delicious homemade fried chicken momo as a delightful snack or appetizer!
